Here I Am

JCC East Bay Says #HereIAm

“Here I Am” is a new initiative demonstrating the vibrancy, diversity, and values of the Bay Area Jewish community. Through grassroots storytelling videos, we seek to bring to light our personal experiences with antisemitism and educate our neighbors how to be Jewish allies in this fraught moment.

How To Join The Movement

Make a Video

Whether you are Jewish or an ally, you are invited to share your story in a short (30 second to 5 minute) video! We'll be sharing all submitted videos far and wide.

What to say:

  • Begin by saying "Here I am, from the JCC East Bay community," and introduce yourself (pronouns encouraged).
  • Answer one or more of these prompts:
    • Have you faced or witnessed antisemitism (even as a brief comment)? Tell us about that experience. How did it feel?
    • What would you say to someone who told you that they don't think antisemitism is a big deal?
    • What makes you proud to be part of the Jewish community, especially here in the Bay Area?

How to share:

  • Post it on Instagram or Facebook using the hashtag #HereIAm and tag @jcceastbay

Write Your Story

Feel more comfortable writing your story?

Though videos are our favorite, you can submit a written response for us to share if you're camera-shy! We encourage you to include your name, but anonymous answers will be accepted as well.
