Two Bay Area businesses with Jews at the helm are having a major impact on their communities; one locally and one globally. Caryl Levine co-founded Lotus Foods with her husband Ken Lee, and they have introduced the world to new heritage varieties of rice, revolutionizing how rice is farmed and helping women in the process. Meanwhile, Andrew Stoloff has grown Rubicon Bakery – the supplier of Whole Foods and Andronico's, among others – by hiring populations who need a second chance, including former drug addicts and prisoners.

Join Wall, Levine, and Stoloff for a moderated discussion on running profitable companies while effecting positive change. Complimentary (and sustainable!) treats will be provided.

Alix Wall is a J. Weekly contributing editor and freelance food writer as well as founder of the Illuminoshi, the not so secret society of Bay Area Jewish Food Professionals. She is a certified natural foods chef and contributor to the San Francisco Chronicle, Berkeleyside, KQED’s Bay Area Bites, and The Forward.
