Overnight Trips

 

CHAVERIM (‘Friends’:  entering grades 5 & 6)

The Chaverim Trip & Travel program provides a balance of traditional camp experiences on-site and exciting off-site trips: a day trip to a local park and a two-night overnight to a State or National Park in Northern California. Chaverim campers will experience activities like hiking, team building, swimming, and BBQs in addition to a ‘Challenge Activity’ on each overnight trip.

Session I – Sacramento                              Rafting and 4^th of July Celebration

Join us for a memorable trip to Sacramento. We will spend Monday at the JCC getting ready for our trip and then leave for Sacramento. We will go swimming, hiking, and go rafting down the American River. We will also watch the fireworks and go to a town fair to celebrate the July 4^th holiday.

 

Session II – Marin Exploration                    Horseback Trail Ride

On this trip, we will head across the bridge and camp in the redwoods. On our second day of the trip, we ride horses in Marin and go swimming at Stinson Beach and even hike to see the beautiful sites of that beach.

 

Session III - Santa Cruz                               Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk

On this favorite overnight, we will camp at a beach that overlooks the ocean. On our drive up, we will stop at the beach and soak up the sun. On our second day of the overnight, we will go to tide pooling, have a BBQ, and head over to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk for a night at the park. In the morning, we will do some activities at our camp site and head back to camp.

 

Session IV - Urban Adventures in SF            Adventures in SF

While our oldest group goes to Los Angeles, we thought we would give our Chaverim campers the chance to explore San Francisco in a whole new way. On this overnight, we will go to Marin for a day and see the sites over there and go to San Francisco to explore the marina, see Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, and even see a baseball game! It’s going to be a trip to remember.

HABONIM (‘Builders’: entering grades 7, 8 & 9)

The Habonim Trip & Travel program incorporates social service projects as well as hands-on experience in camp activities and on the overnights. Each session includes a week onsite at camp with local day-trips. During the second week of each session, Habonim will enjoy a three or fournight overnight to a State or National Park in California.

Session I – Sacramento

Join us for a memorable trip to Sacramento. We will spend Monday at the JCC getting ready for our trip and then leave for Sacramento. We will go swimming, hiking, do a service project in Sacramento, and go tubing down the American River. We will also watch the fireworks and go to a town fair to celebrate the July 4^th holiday.

 

Session II – Rock & Ride at Lake Tahoe

We will be joining other JCCs from the Bay Area on this epic excursion. We will spend Monday getting to know each other and prepping for the trip. Tuesday thru Friday we will camp at our favorite campsite in the Lake Tahoe region and go rock climbing, mountain biking, and swimming in the lake.

 

Session III – Whitewater Rafting Trip

Habonim will head up to the Gold Country for some whitewater action on the South Fork of the American River. Expert guides will navigate the Class III river and provide personal beginning kayak instruction for those who are interested. Campers will explore the California Gold Rush, skip rocks and roast kosher marshmallows on this exciting excursion. Join teens from other Bay Area JCCs on this trip: Spend Monday at the JCC getting to know each other and planning activities for the trip and leave Tuesday for an exciting river adventure.

 

Session IV – So Cal Extreme – Disney Style*

Head south to soak up the sun! Explore Malibu, Santa Monica, the Museum of Tolerance, along with Disneyland and California Adventure on a two day hopper pass! Join teens from other Bay Area JCCs on this five-day adventure. The trip includes one night of camping and three nights at the Merage JCC in Orange County. From the bonfire to making tons of new friends to the amusement parks, it is sure to be an awesome time!

*This trip will depart Monday for a four-night overnight.
