Jewish Dance Theatre

 The JCC is proud to welcome the Jewish Dance Theatre as an artistic company in residence. Director Bruce Bierman will lead a dance class pulling from different Jewish traditions and the JDT will host a monthly dance party at the JCC throughout the course of the summer. Look forward to a slate of stellar fall productions from this ensemble. The Jewish Dance Theatre creates innovative performance and community events inspired by the rich tradition of Jewish art and ideas. JDT also offers workshops in Jewish dance throughout the Bay Area for all ages. The Joy of Jewish Dance  In this unique workshop, participants will learn the improvisational dance steps and gestures of the ancient Yemenite Jewish community, the soulful dances of the Hasidim, the rollicking joy of Yiddish dance and some classic Israeli folk dances that interweave these traditional choreographies with popular dance moves. No experience is necessary and all ages are welcome. Sundays July 13-August 31, 3:00-4:30pm $80 general, $60 members (entire course) OR $15/session |
The Freylekh: Dance Parties at the JCC Get ready to stomp, shvitz and boogie down for an evening of Yiddish dancing led by master dance leader Bruce Bierman. Some of the Bay Area’s best klezmer groups will perform live music at these evenings for all ages.
