Throughout the year many holiday events are held at the JCC East Bay as a place to gather, learn, and celebrate. Some of these holidays include Purim, Passover, Shavuot, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, and Hanukah. We hope you'll join us for the variety of celebrations and services we offer for each holiday. You're invited to dress in costume for the community-wide celebration featuring carnival games, holiday crafts including mask-making, a costume parade and a Purim shpiel complete with groggers (noise-makers) for the audience. Admission is an act of tzedakah: bringing a canned food to donate. Purchase tickets on site for games and activities For more information, contact Andy Muchin at 510-848-0237 x118 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Co-sponsored by Congregation Beth El and Jewish Gateways.
Wednesday, March 4 at 8 p.m.
East Bay location TBA
Corruption, drunkenness, buffoonery, anti-Semitism, bloodlust, revenge, sex. Purim may trigger festive images of costumes, carnivals and noise-makers, but the holiday revolves around a dark and frightening story with decidedly adult themes. Purim after Dark will take a grown-up and entertaining approach to the holiday. See www.jcceastbay.org for details.
