Independent High Holiday Services at the JCC East Bay

Berkeley Community High Holy Day Services

For the second year, the Jewish Studio Project team, Rabbi Adina Allen and musician Jeff Kasowitz, will lead inspiring Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services at the JCC East Bay. On September 30, stay for the Yom Kippur break-the-fast potluck after sundown. All are welcome!

Erev Rosh Hashanah: Wednesday, September 20, 7 PM

Rosh Hashanah: Thursday, September 21, 10 AM

Kol Nidre: Friday, September 29, 7 PM

Yom Kippur: Saturday, September 30, 10 AM

Location: Berkeley Branch, Theater and Courtyard

Fee: Free. These services are entirely funded by attendee donations.

High Holidays with Jewish Gateways

Rabbi Bridget Wynne and Cantorial Soloist Angela Gold lead these engaging and inclusive services in both English and Hebrew. Services are open to all. Family services and activities are also available. Rabbi Bridget offers warmth, creativity, and a commitment to addressing the big questions of life with openness and honesty. Services are welcoming and take place outdoors beneath a comfortable, heated tent.

Family Service (for children under 10 & their loved ones): 9:30-10 AM

Hands-on holiday activities for children of all ages: 10:30 AM-12:30 PM

Morning Service: 10:30 AM-12:30 PM

Picnic (bring your own) & Tashlich (ritual to toss away regrets): 1 PM at Live Oak Park, 1301 Shattuck Ave, Berkeley

Parking

We recommend parking in residential spots close to the JCC.

Please download and print a parking pass, allowing you to park in 2-hour residential spots for the Rosh Hashanah Day Services and Yom Kippur Day Services. Display this pass in your windshield to avoid a ticket. You do not need a placard for any of the other services.

Do not park in yellow or green zones, parking meters, spaces that block driveways, drop off & pick up zones, or Safeway's lot. You will get ticketed or towed for all such infractions.

This placard does not guarantee leniency from tickets, but does help pre-alerted Berkeley parking enforcement from "passing over" your car. The JCC is not responsible for any tickets incurred.

If you should incur a ticket during Rosh Hashanah in a residential (non-parking meter) parking spot and you displayed our sign indicating you were at services please send a copy of your ticket right away to request its dismissal to:
