The Bay Area Community Talmud Circle is growing, dynamic, and welcoming community of adult students engaged in modern Talmud study and active conversation. This unique project is a collaboration of Jehrhaus Judaica and the Alph Society of Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz, hailed by TIME magazine as a "once-in-a-millennium scholar."
Steinsaltz writes "The Talmus is a central pillar of Jewish knowledge. It is not only important in and of itself, but it is organically connected to just about everything in the realm of Jewish knowledge, from the pracical, everyday halakha to exciting and dizzying mystical notions".
While the majority of participants are continuing students, anyone may join.
Newcomers to Talmus study should participate in the two-part preliminary series "A Taste of Talmud". Bay Area Community Talmud Circle students study with the Koren Talmud Bavli, Berakhot, available in various print sizes and in digital editions.
