JCC Oakland-Afterschool Program

The Oakland-Afterschool Program is located at our Oakland branch at 5811 Racine Street, in the Temescal neighborhood. The program serves children grades K-5 from the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) and South Berkeley Unified Schools.  With tons of indoor and outdoor space and a large park around the corner, there is plenty of room to relax, do homework, hang with friends, and run around.  In addition to our core activities, group programming, celebrations, and structured and unstructured play, there is a wide array of enrichment classes such as piano, art, cooking, drama, sports, and homework help!  Hours for the Oakland Afterschool Program are 1:00pm-6:00pm, Monday through Friday. Full-day programming is offered on most Oakland Unified School District holidays and vacations.

Chugim (Enrichment Classes)

The JCC Afterschool-Oakland program offers many chugim (enrichment classes) for our winter session to children who are currently enrolled in the Afterschool Programs. We offer a wide scope of chugim from cooking and baking classes, to painting and sculpture classes, to clowning and martial arts, ice skating, swimming, and more! Many of our classes are taught internally by our afterschool teachers and some are contracted out to professionals in the community – cost varies dependent on material fees and instructor. With such a variety of chugim, there is something for everyone!

The complete Oakland Spring Chugim Packet 2013 offerings provides detailed information about the teachers, specifics about the class, and times and prices.

The Oakland Chugim Weekly Schedule 2013 provides an abbreviated look of the classes, times and prices. This is a good reference guide when signing up online.
